Welcome to Monterey First Baptist Church!
I am Pastor Skip Lavespere and I have been entrusted with the honor and privilege of penning the welcome to what we think is going to be one of our most exciting endeavors yet at MFBC; our new website. Not long ago, I made mention to a couple of members of our technology committee about the fact that we could possibly benefit from the expanding world of media and they instantly bought into the idea of adopting that in our church vision and what you are about to see are the fruits of that labor. Many hours of research, investigation, input, and yes, prayer has resulted in the product that what was once a dream is now a reality. As our church has grown, we have not been complacent to rest on any laurels we might have incurred. Instead, we have sought the wisdom of God in what to do going forward as to continue the great work that God has implemented not only in our church, but the entire community of Monterey. We believe that God has chosen this community as a starting point for a great return to the gospel of Jesus Christ that will begin inward and expand outward. We are already seeing fruits of this awakening in our churches, school, and the community at large. We have seen the hand of God work in restoring that which the devil had destroyed. He has rebuilt bridges in families, restored the sick, and saved the lost. His mighty hand can be seen at work daily in the lives of people throughout our community and it will only get greater as the days continue towards Jesus’ soon return! This website is one of your points of entry into the exciting happenings that occur almost daily at MFBC. You will see ministries at work that we are partners with that bring glory to God. You will see children and youth (whom satan targets the most because they are the biggest threat to him!) involved in what will astound you in the depth of the spirituality they portray. You will hear praise and worship that sits God down right in the midst of our services. You will learn about Sunday School classes where you will be challenged to study the Word of God and grow to make it a part of your daily life. You will hear sermons and Bible studies that hopefully cause you to ponder and reflect on where God is sitting in your life at this moment. You will see people having fun!! We are a happy church because we serve a happy God Who loves His children. You will be made aware of upcoming events we are having so you can take advantage of being around people who are passionate about the God we serve. There are a lot more things this website details and if I was smart enough I would tell you about them but I will let you visit it and find out for yourself. Like I said, I don’t have the technological IQ to describe everything. I leave that up to the smart people, of whom I have many. Someone once told me I had a big advantage at MFBC because all my people are so much smarter than me. How true! I have the hardest working, forward thinking, super intelligent members who are committed to bringing God’s vision into reality. I couldn’t be more blessed.
